Peripheral Neuropathy and The ReBuilder

If you are a medical professional, the ReBuilder™ may be a new concept for you. Recent research has shown that many cases of neuropathy are related to a deficiency of available oxygen, either chronic or acute. Without the proper oxygen levels, the peripheral nerves have reduced their metabolic rate to compensate. This is accomplished by a physical atrophying of the nerve cell, causing it to shrink. This shrinking enlarges the synaptic junction between the axons of one cell and the dendrites of the next. As the synapse gets bigger, it is harder for a normal intensity electrical nerve impulse to jump across this gap. Another issue is when the nerve cell shrinks the myelin sheath also contracts the normal alternating polarization of the sheath is cancelled, which slows down the signal and provides an electrical resistance to the flow of the nerve signal.

The ReBuilder™ is designed to jump this gap, waking up the dormant nerve cell, relaxing the shrinking nerve cell thereby restoring the normal plus/minus polarity along the nerve axons and dendrites, and re-setting the set points for sensitivity.

This phenomenon of shrinking can occur when the patient suffers from chronic sleep apnea, excess levels of glucose displacing the oxygen, free radicals adhering to the Oxygen thus making the oxygen metabolically unavailable, or peripheral artery or vascular disease.

Secondary damage resulting from diabetic ischemia in the microvascular portions of the skin, chemical damage from Agent Orange, chemotherapy, trauma, over control of blood pressure causing low pressure in the extremities, anti-cholesterol meds like statins etching away the myelin sheath of nerve tissue, and the normal side effects of pain meds like Neurontin, Cymbalta, oxycodine, oxycontin, and percocet that purposefully ablate nerve function, can all result in the symptoms of neuropathy.

Therefore, what is needed is a way to stimulate the nerves to re-awaken, a way to re-educate the nerve paths for these newly awakened nerves and a way to cause angiogenesis in the periphery to support the added burden of the metabolic needs of these newly functioning nerves.

The ReBuilder™ is your answer.

The ReBuilder™ is a combination of TENS and EMS technology with a unique twist.

Rather than use the usual waveform of TENS that overrides the nerve signal we used sophisticated equipment to measure the unique waveform of a healthy peripheral signal and used this waveform amplified many times. Then we added the EMS signal to passively exercise the calf muscles to stimulate the venous muscle pump to increase local blood flow.

For enhanced patient compliance, we used a warm water footbath to deliver the signal across the entire surface of the foot for comfort, simplicity and to cause vasodilator of the capillaries of the skin to infuse the area with freshly oxygenated blood.

Recently we added other method of application using high conductive silver laced socks to enable the patient to elevate his feet. Especially good for those patients suffering from the sensation of burning feet, we added conductive socks and gloves which when dampened, evaporate and cool the surface temperature of the skin 10 degrees F.

For a more technical and detailed explanation of the ReBuilder™ including the electro-medical specifications, set points, wave propagation analysis etc, please read Dr. Phillips' monograph:

"The Electro-physiology of the ReBuilder™".

The ReBuilder™ is available so that you can treat your patients in your office and then dispense the ReBuilder™ when appropriate.

The ReBuilder™ is fully registered with the FDA under the 510K requirements (since 1988), carries Medical Liability Insurance, and is made in the USA.

ReBuilder 2407 Technical Specifications

Electrically isolated output. This is a safety feature so that if an accidental short occurs due to dropping etc. within the unit, it cannot reach the patient.

Pulse duration: 240 microseconds positive / 1.458 microseconds negative

Pulse waveform: Asymmetrical, biphasic, with very short positive spike for nerve stimulation and negative, broad peak of longer duration for muscle stimulation. This is a patent pending feature. This waveform exactly duplicates the waveform of a healthy nerve signal much the same as a pacemaker imitates a healthy cardiac signal.

Pulse repetition rate:

Switch selectable: 7.83 Hz and 90 Hz. 90 Hz modulated 6 seconds on and 6 seconds off with a .25 second ramp-up and a .25 second ramp down within the 6 seconds while on:

Peak charge per pulse: 7.23 microColumbs @ 500 ohm load

Pulse amplitude: 0 to 40 volts @ 500 ohm load, continuously variable

Peak pulse current: 0 to 80 ma @ 500 omh

Power source: 9 V alkaline battery (supplied) or 120 volt AC wall converter to increase power by 30%.

Intended mode of action:

The 7.83 Hz and the 90 Hz settings are designed to control pain by stimulating the large afferent nerves. The 6 second on/off setting is designed to stimulate the muscles to contract. By utilizing the footbath, the entire skin area of the foot vasodilates because of the warm water, allowing increased blood flow to nourish the nerves. This increases the metabolism of the micro-fibers of the dendrites in the skin that initiate the electrical nerve signals.

Unit dimensions: 3 x 1.5 x 6.25

Weight: 8 oz. (with battery)

Footbath dimensions: 15.5 x 13.5 x 12.75

Made in the USA.
